Thai restaurant Boon Nam on the street level of Hotel St. George has been offering authentic food experiences to Helsinki residents and travellers for over two years. Restaurant Boon Nam, run by top chef Tomi Björck’s team, has been discovered by both young foodies and older fans of the Thai kitchen.

Inspired by Top Restaurants and Street Kitchens

Inspiration for the seasonally changing menu is literally brought from the same place as Boon Nam’s rich world of flavours.

–Our entire team just came back from a week-long research trip to Bangkok. Our chefs went straight to the city’s best restaurants and popular street kitchens to seek new, fresh flavours for our menu. They also explored local markets for potential new ingredients, Minka Björck says.

The team won’t be running out of ideas anytime soon, as according to Björck, the Thai food culture is fabulously colourful and varied.

–Food really is central to people’s lives in Thailand, and you can taste that in everything.

Unhurried Craftsmanship

Dedication to good food is also a core tenet of Boon Nam’s philosophy. Everything from curry pastes to sauces is made on site from start to finish.

–Our recipes require vast amounts of hands-on work and time, but our team takes pride in the genuine craftsmanship, Björck says.

Customers are just as welcome to enjoy a quick, refreshing cocktail as they are to spend the evening savouring a tasting menu of around 10 courses. There’s also a vegan version of the popular menu.

–The name of Boon Nam means good luck. We hope that the passion in everything we do is relayed all the way to the tables and makes our customers feel lucky, Björck says.
