Finnish fashion designer Mert Otsamo celebrates his 15-year career with a stunning retrospective exhibition titled “Ephemeral Beauty”.

The exhibition opened at Hotel St. George’s Wintergarden in Helsinki on September 7, 2024, and will be open to the public until early 2025. New pieces are added to the exhibition in December 2024, some of which could be seen in the prestigious Independence Day Gala at the Finnish Presidential Palace.

The name “Ephemeral Beauty” reflects the profound nature of Otsamo’s creative process. Each gown showcased in this exhibition is the result of meticulous work and a lengthy design process. The selection of fabrics, the design, pattern making, and sewing take countless hours, all culminating in the moment when the garment is worn at an event. Afterward, only the gown remains, while the memories of that fleeting moment linger.

The exhibition will feature a comprehensive collection of Mert Otsamo’s designs, including garments donated by both celebrities and private clients, such as Krista Kosonen, Paula Vesala, BEHM, and Minka Kuustonen. These works highlight Otsamo’s ability to capture moments of beauty and the aesthetics of nature through fashion.

A central theme of the exhibition is birth, death, and the life that lies in between—concepts that are deeply embedded in Otsamo’s creations. His work explores the cycle of life and the transient nature of beauty, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience these themes through his tangible art pieces.
