George TALK: Building Bridges
Want to become better at building bridges between people?
In our second George TALK, at 5 p.m. on 19 November 2019, Itonde Kakoma from CMI and Annastiina Hintsa from Hintsa Performance will be discussing how to build bridges through peace mediation, design and cultivating key human skills. Singer–songwriter Anni Mattila Huhtisaari will be performing her songs about creating a more inclusive and abundant world for us all.
You will learn how both peace mediation and design can enable encounter of people.
You will learn how to cultivate the key human skills required in the age of artificial intelligence.
What are George TALKS

Itonde Kakoma

The intersections of design and peace
CMI’s Programme Director Itonde Kakoma will discuss the intersections of design and peace. Both peace mediation and certain forms of design ultimately have the same purpose: to enable encounter of people.
Itonde A. Kakoma is a member of the Leadership Team of CMI. He serves as the Programme Director responsible for Africa. He also oversees CMI’s Programme Management Office, especially concerning policy, learning and institutional cooperation.
Prior to CMI, he served as the Assistant Director of the Conflict Resolution Program at the Carter Center, managing the Center’s peace initiatives and supporting President Carter’s efforts in and between Sudan and South Sudan. He was an international observer for Sudan’s National Referendum on the Right to Self-Determination in 2011. Previously, he worked on the Carter Center’s peace initiatives in Liberia, where he was an advisor and report writer for the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission, specifically on the role of traditional and religious communities during the civil war and in peacemaking.
Annastiina Hintsa

Thriving in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Annastiina Hintsa will discuss how we can cultivate the key human skills required in the age of artificial intelligence, such as complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and people management. Annastiina has witnessed the growth of Hintsa Performance over the past decade. She joined Hintsa as an entrepreneur after several years in management consulting, where she held the position of an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Over the years, Annastiina has gotten to closely observe the challenges faced by the top executives. Annastiina believes a holistic view on individual wellbeing is also the fundamental building block for better organisational health and performance. In her free time she looks for balance and new perspectives by running ultra-marathons in deserts around the world.

Building Bridges, Not Walls
Anni Mattila Huhtisaari is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter. Building a bridge between creativity, inner and outer peace, as well as sustainable co-existence through her career in music and Master studies of World Politics, she is a spokesperson for more inclusive and abundant world for us all. As a Berklee College of Music scholar and MasterPeace artist ambassador she has collaborated with a number or musicians from different cultures and genres. In Finland her most prominent work includes co-writing rap artist Pyhimys’s album Medium. Her song ’Stains’ has been the power song of the week on radio station YleX. At the moment she is writing her upcoming album. Besides music, Anni is the co-founder of peace tech innovation Peace Tracker and a passionate advocate for Women, Peace and Security.
